Garden

A quiet, contemplative spot in the garden

We have an extensive garden which combines both native and exotics. When we first built the house it was a bare open paddock, but almost twenty years later, things have changed quite a bit, thanks to Des' green fingers.

Water is a big problem in the bush, and we have probably spent more money acquiring water than we have on building, but we enjoy the result, as do the wildlife and birds which inhabit and visit.

Luscious looking peaches are available mid January, but we have all kinds of fruit which lasts the whole range of the soft fruit season, peaches, plums, nectarines, apricots, cherries, apples, grapes,  pears, cherry guavas and feijoas. We have soft shelled almonds if the cockatoos don't beat us to them, and you can pick them and eat them straight from the tree. When their season is over we have lots of citrus, oranges, grapefruit and lemons.

You are encouraged to browse around the garden to see if there is anything you would like to taste. Kathleen and John Blaylock, from Cumbria in England wrote...."A wonderful stay. Many thanks for your superb hospitality, the flowers, birds, views and asparagus! Wish we could stay." They had enjoyed fresh cut asparagus with their dinner. There is any amount of chives, parsley, lemon grass and other herbal garnishes.
